Yeah, we frown on this as well. No policy, but, generally, people know who the professionals are, know they are at the meetings. Generally, anyone that decides the TMUG list serve is for advertising get emails back saying please don't do this. Not from a moderator, just people take it upon themselves. Fine with me.

That is your call, when to charge and not too (except at the meetings, I would think). We have a few in our group, the only freebies are at the meetings, everything else $$, because they are in business to make money.

We certainly have Mac professionals in TMUG. We make a point at each meeting to ask the Mac pros to stand up and be recognized, tell a little bit about what they do. This tends to head off any direct business solicitation at the meetings. It is a compromise that works for us.
I think Mac pros are some of the most vital people in our organization, I want to support them however I can, without turning the volunteer nature of the group into something else.
