For a while we had a policy that members who were consultants AND who were presenting a topic or leading a session could not mention their business while presenting "on our time" under the thought that other members who were consultants didn't have a chance for "equal" time at this captive audience. They could pass out handouts and leave business cards on the meeting welcome tables, but that was it.
At a later Board meeting, we decided to allow discrete, low-key, mention of a consultant's business while he/she was presenting, as a sort-of "thank you" for leading/presenting the session. This has seemed to work well, as it encourages our members who are consultants to participate in a more active manner than just attending meetings, answering questions, and having a paid listing on our website.
