One of my PeeCee friends passed this on to me saying (smugly), “Welcome to my (Intel) world."
I'm not one to raise the red flag first, but I was wondering if this something to ponder or fret?
Mac OS X: 1 (Leap-A. The Bluetooth one is based on a vulnerability patched a year ago) Windows: 300 000? (Symantec claims it's around 72000 but they also ignore the different strains in this total)
The biggest cause of malware on Mac OS X is complacency. We spend far too much time crowing about our vaunted security so then it motivates the criminally insane to test the waters. With OSX now available on Intel by way of a simple software crack applied to disk images downloaded off the internet, the idiots who write these things now have the hardware to test this crapola.
For sure, this trojan will not signal the beginning of the end. It was inevitable and my answer to any PC user who starts to crow would be:
"I'm glad you find our joint misery so enjoyable. My one Mac OS X trojan surely justifies your decision to stay on Windows with your 300 000 epidemics waiting to happen."
