If you don't want or need dotmac services, but just need web hosting,
www.itsamac.com has all Mac servers, and offers their best package
free to recognized Apple User Groups. It is a good deal! But it
isn't the same as a .Mac account.
Not only free and friendly, they also provide MUG members a special rate for their web space as well. They have been doing it right for 9 years. CMUG has been with itsamac.com for two years and has had no problems. They were very helpful establishing our account and moving our domain name. Even if you don't know what you are doing, they walk you through procedures. It is like Ron Popeal says, "You set it up and forget it." They take care of everything. If you have a need for a new service like blog space, message boards and such, they can help you add it or recommend someone who provides that service. They offered POP email service to our entire membership if we were interested. I could be <email@hidden> if I had wanted to be. They have an 8 to 8 (mountain time) 800 number to talk to a real person to ask questions and get info or use the email form at their web site.
To get your stuff onto their server you will need ftp software which is available in most web creation software like Adobe GoLive and iWeb. It is also available separately in programs like fetch and Speed Download 4.
Best of all, they talk Mac!!!!!!!!!!!
