Hi
Count us in from the Sydney Mac Users Group (SMUG) the newest group
recognized in Australia (early October 2006). I also run the Australian Mac
Users Group (AUSMUG) which promotes all Australian MUGs (similar to
MUGCentre & TAGTeam in the USA but on a smaller scale).
I also belong to a number of other Australian MUGs and communicate with most
of the rest. My efforts along with Nicholas Pyers (AUSOM) efforts have
played a large part (at least I'd like to think so) in raising the profile
of local Australian MUGs (both Nicholas & myself have been written about in
a number of publications and nationwide newspapers). I am also pleased to
say that over recent times we have seen a major rise in MUG activity
Australia wide with a number of new MUGs being formed in the last 12 months.
I love the list & read every email but like a few others have stated
previously, I think that many groups need to grow with the times & not
become entrenched running things as they have in the past. Now days any MUG
that wants to attract new, young, energetic & talented new members has to
learn to keep up with what interests these younger Mac users. These younger
members do want to belong and get involved if they feel comfortable that
their opinions are valued and their interests catered for. Just my 2c worth.
