- Thread-topic: How long does it take to get Adobe upgrades
Hi all
I don't want to sound like I have sour grapes but I am wondering how long
does it take in countries outside Australia to receive upgrades from Adobe.
In mid April I bought Adobe CS2 Premium and Studio 8 Web Bundle that came
with a free upgrade to CS3.
I posted off the included upgrade form straight away and in May rang up to
find out what was happening only to be told they had no record of my upgrade
application. After 3 different phone calls trying to find out what was
happening I was asked where I had posted the form to. I stated, the address
on the form at North Ryde in Sydney (Adobe's main Australian Headquarters)
only to be told that the address on the form no longer processes any mail
sent to it. From what I could gather none of the contact info on the upgrade
form was correct. I thought I'd contact Adobe in Sydney to let them know of
the problem only to find the only phone number listed in the phone book for
them was this same support phone number in Manilla.
Eventually I had to send a faxed copy of the upgrade form to Manilla and
about a month later got an email telling me it would be late July to August
before I would receive my upgrade. I have been asking around on various
Australian Mac forums to see if any one else had had better luck. Every
reply I received was the same nobody had received their upgrade. In fact I
found one guy who had only received his promised free upgrade from CS2 to
CS2.3 three weeks ago having posted off his form in August last year.
I know Adobe makes great products but I want to know is it just Australian
customers being made to jump through hoops trying to get their free upgrades
or do other countries have the same problems. Those in the US probably need
not reply because US customers are always treated as first class citizens
and companies would never dare treat them like they do the citizens of other
countries.
I guess I do sound a bit bitter but this is not the first time I have had
troubles. When I originally bought Photoshop 7 years ago I could never get
it registered because the overseas support staff couldn't understand English
well enough to process the registration and I never received any information
warning me that all my other Adobe software (Illustrator, Premiere,
PageMaker etc) that I already owned and had registered previously could not
be upgraded if I didn't upgrade them by a certain date, so now I find none
of them are eligible to be upgraded because they are too old. I am not
impressed and thinking about it maybe US customers could reply as well
because I'm sure their experiences are nothing like this.
