Browsers and more

iphone-leopard-web-browsers-and-more/>
In spite of many North American groups taking a summer break and a
holiday in the United States, the Mac User Group world is buzzing with
interesting meeting topics and presenters. As you would expect, whether
it is the scheduled main topic or not, the iPhone will be capturing
plenty of attention wherever Mac users gather.
Dean Magrath of Epson will be presenting archival printing in Australia,
the iPhone will be the star in Florida, California and everywhere else,
and Leopard will be previewed in Australia and North Carolina. (more)
2 - O'Reilly Offers Special iPhone Book Deal
<http://www.mugcenter.com/oreilly-offers-special-iphone-book-deal/>
O'Reilly is doing something special for the iPhone release, and have
asked us to pass it on.

3 - Take Your Group to 2.0: The Components of a Mac User Group Identity
<http://www.mugcenter.com/take-your-group-to-20-the-components-of-a-mac-
user-group-identity/>
Even if you don't consider your Mac User Group to be a business, you can
still take plenty of ideas and practices from the business world and
apply them to your group. One of the most important aspects of being in
business today is branding. Having people know you helps define great
organizations from less-than-great ones, and that all starts with
branding. While branding and identity are two different things, you have
to have one before you can start to to the other. When we think of 2.0
user groups the first thing that comes to mind is that they have an
identity already established and have moved well into branding
themselves. (more)
4 - Online Internet Radio Goes Dark in a Day of Protest
<http://www.mugcenter.com/online-internet-radio-goes-dark-in-a-day-of-
protest/>
It is quiet on the Internet today. Not as in "peace and quiet," with
images of relaxation and content. The quiet is the deafening kind that
comes crashing in when you've lost something important and might not get
it back. And that's exactly what may happen.
Today is the Day of Silence, a protest staged by the a long list of
prominent internet radio stations and online music services to give us
all a sample of what life could be like come July 15. That's the day
when a set of retroactive royalty rates kicks in and will effectively
take much of the online music you enjoy offline...permanently. (more)
