Personally, I think a lot of the generated
rancour here could be alleviated by simply
telling everybody what they are going to do, up
front and honestly.
If they said - 'we will provide an NFR copy
within two weeks of Leopard's release' at any
point before Leopard was actually for sale, then
everyone could make a reasonable decision of
what to do. As it is, it makes many people feel
like dogs waiting to see if the human will throw
us a bone this time or not...
While that might sound a little harsh, it
gentler than I feel right now. I've been trying
to log into our group's already existing ASW
account since they announced the iWork NFR
program with no success.
No one I've contacted can do anything - it's
like some dark fraternity or something. Does
anybody have any ideas other than the regional
group liaison (who hasn't accomplished anything)
or the never answered email@hidden ?

Think the question we should be asking is does
Apple want user groups? Now that it's a different
and bigger company, with retail presence, does
Apple need us any more? Seems to me that Apple
Campus reps get a lot more free hardware/software
(including a MBP, Printer, iPod, Speakers +
software) then any user group but they seem to
have an employee/employer relationship so do the
minimum that they're asked to do, whilst we has a
user groups try to do all on a volunteer basis
using our own equipment. Something is wrong here
and something Apple needs to sit down and think
about hard.

Asam Bashir....
