In most cases this is being done from a series of hijacked "botNet" Windows machines from somewhere else, with little or no connection to your actual account. They likely chose your address at random from a list of addresses. There's nothing you can do to make them stop.
You can kill the old .mac account, and open a new one. (yeah, we know, not the best solution, but the most effective one) It may be possible to set up an alias with a new address, and have all mail to the old address automatically directed to the trash. If you want to continue using the old address, then hopefully you can set some servers-side mail actions to deal with it. With luck, .mac's spam filtering can catch them all, or be trained to catch them. Otherwise, hopefully, there are Mac Mail (locally-based) mail actions that can also get rid of them, though after you've downloaded them.
Subject: My account has been hijacked Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2007 15:02:56 -0400 From: Bill Gadol <email@hidden> To: Gary Kampel <email@hidden>
I have had (and enjoyed) my .mac account since .mac was introduced but I have had a problem for the past month or so. Someone is sending SPAM to Russia and through Europe using email@hidden as the “Sent From” address.
My inbox is constantly receiving “Undeliverable Mail” or “Postmaster Demon” or “Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender”... as a bounce back. How does Steve Jobs prevent this from happening to him and what can I do without changing my account name?
I’m physically able and mentally willing to crush these hijacking cyber terrorists with my bare hands.
