Our stance at the BeiMac group is a little bit different.
We believe that the rights and privileges of consumers are first and
foremost in importance. It has, if anything, just a tiny bit to do
with that old "serve the people" adage; it's more about us consumers
going out to buy something and buying it knowing that it won't be
crippled or all locked up.
We do, however, post the following disclaimer before all such posts:
PLEASE NOTE: The Beijing Macintosh User Group firmly opposes any
attempts at illegally hacking any computer hardware or software. At
the same time, however, it cannot be stressed enough that the rights
and privileges of all consumers must be protected and be catered to.
The following information is provided for reference purposes only.
The fact that the following article has been posted does not in any
way imply endorsement or approval of such practises by the user
group. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
When Apple does finally make the iPhone available for China, however,
we'll post only "legit" articles. Making money is a good thing. Being
innovative is a better thing. Ensuring that the rights and interests
of consumers are catered to, however, is pretty much the best thing
that's out there.
To be totally blunt: we consumers are the deciding factor on whether
or not a product makes it or ends up in the dumpster. In the end, 1.3
billion shunning your product can do more than just ruin your day.
Still, we at the same time recognize that some core interests of
"everyone's favorite fruit company" are at stake here. In the end,
however, the masses won.

Hi
We've been inundated with posts about how to unlock iPhone on our
site. And we're obviously in a non-iPhone region so to use it on the
phone network here it has to be unlocked.
Have you faced similar situations on your user group sites (if you
have blogs or discussion boards)? And what did you decide to do about
it (if anything)?
After a flood of posts on this, we've decided to not allow anything
that has to do with how to unlock/hack iPhone or where to find suck
information. Legit use of iPhone is accepted, as is discussing news of
unlocking/hacking.
Thanks
