Mac User Groups are fully re-engaged after a couple slow holiday weeks,
with a host of great presenters and informative topics.
Apple's Dave Marra will get a jump on his presentation schedule in
Pennsylvania while Tom Abruzzo and Rick Johnson from the Apple Store
will show off Leopard in New York. Digital artist Burt Monroy will be
the guest at a California group, while Intuit will demonstrate tax
software at another California group, and Adobe will show off Creative
Suite 3 in Ohio. (more)
2 - Excerpts from the "The Mac OS X Lexicon" Available for User Group
Publications
<http://www.mugcenter.com/excerpts-from-the-the-mac-os-x-lexicon-
available-for-user-group-publications/>
Take Control: The Mac OS X Lexicon is the most recent effort from author
Sharon Zardetto. Now, Mac User Groups can share some of Sharon's work in
their publications.
Sharon is offering "The X-Lex," excerpts from her book, for MUG
publication reprint, each for a limited time. These short articles
define and explain terminology from the world of Apple in an informative
and entertaining fashion. (more)
3 - A Mac User Group Contest, 2008-Style: "Where in the World is
Tropical Software's TopXNotes?
the-world-is-tropical-softwares-topxnotes/>
At the Apple Store, that's where. But not just any Apple store, yet!
TopXNotes is being trial marketed at the 38 largest Apple stores. If
successful you can expect it to be at more Apple stores in 2008.
To celebrate the arrival of special version of Tropical Software's
TopXNotes in Apple Stores, Tropical's James Lee is running a contest for
Mac User Group members. If you are the one of the first five people to
send Jim a photo of you, in any U.S. Apple Store (must be obvious from
the background) holding a boxed copy of TopXNotes...(more)
4 - Former Apple User Group Program Manager Diane Cohn Discusses Social
Networking on MacVoices
<http://www.mugcenter.com/former-apple-user-group-program-manager-diane-
cohn-discusses-social-networking-on-macvoices/>
Social networks are a hot topic of discussion, but how do they relate to
Mac User Groups?
Diane Cohn, the former Apple User Group Program Manager and member
several of Apple's web team has a unique perspective on the social
networking phenomenon and wants to know what you think of the current
options and the desirability of a social networking option just for the
users of Apple products. In the newest edition of MacVoices, Diane
shares her experiences since leaving Apple and explains how involvement
in social networks has been instrumental to her success in her new
occupation. She talks about how social networks represent a natural
evolution of Apple enthusiast interaction, the benefits, and the
differences between traditional user group models, online forums and the
new interactive options. (more)
