Since then, we have been discussing strategies for what we could do
to better publicize the group and attract more people so we could
get a critical mass to do things. In that sense, ARMUG's first ten
years were a trial balloon of sorts, and now it's make or break time.

Have you considered and looked at Web 2.0 technology such as social
networking sites like Facebook and Myspace? It may be useful to
build-up the critical mass of people you need at the moment, and a
way of attracting younger and more diverse Mac users. It's not a
replacement for a traditional site/mailing list/bulletin board
strategy for your groups web presence, but something that can
compliment your existing efforts and help you build a network.
You can find some of the user group leaders here:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8471143420
and lots more individual user groups if you search in the Facebook
groups/pages sections.
It's not a neat or elegant solution by all means, but for specific
tasks it's a great way of communicating quickly to a large group of
people.
Cheers,
Asam..
