No, Apple treats all MUGs as an independant groups. MUGs, although recognized, are not authorized, sponsored, or otherwise approved by Apple, Inc. It kinda opens a can of worms for them to advise you on your groups structure, don't you know.
However for info from those that have gone through the ringer, and jumped through the hoops, you might want to check out the IRS list of non-profits at http://www.irs.gov/app/pub-78/
Search for "Macintosh" or "User Group"
Then contact them directly. One of the great things of being in a society of Apple Users is that we all seem to want to help each other. I am sure that they'll be happy to help.
