The only time you HAVE to have a different account is when you are not required to use your APPLE ID user account.

If you have different IDs on ASW and other Apple areas, then that was your choice.

I have never had a problem with using my password for my APPLE ID account (which I use for everything Apple of MUG related).

But, for security purposes, they require you to change your password EVERY six months and they don't allow you to use part of a password that you have used in the past twelve months.

If this is a problem, so be it.
