Hi Cheryl,
Your comments are interesting, (partly because I would love to find a place to buy a box of Apple logoed items) but to the best of my knowledge there is not a place where we can order. Could you let me know where the link or info is for anniversary packages?
Generally, Apple provides small boxes of logoed items for major events as long as items are in the User Group warehouse at the time of the request and the ambassador has not made a request in the last 12 months or repeatedly over the last few years.
We can't ship if the request is made by someone other than the ambassador via the ASW link because the requests lists are heavily spammed. Every time a request is made, we check the Locator database to make sure that the requester is the ambassador of an Apple user group on active status and to determine when the group made its last request. We do not ship boxes for requests for items for regular meetings or contests or for people who have no relationship to user groups or their members. You might be amazed at how many requests come from non-user group folk, including schools, charities, and others. These are not part of the purview of the Apple user group warehouse, although the requesters often ask for hardware, software, dozens of polo shirts and cash donations -- all we ever carry are small logoed items.
The warehouse was out of items for about three months in 2009 because we used our materials for Macworld in San Francisco. (for example, the user group program provided over 300 fairly expensive boxed and logoed wine openers to event attendees, shirts for staffers, give aways and more). Currently, shipping is on hold due to database work, but should resume in about a month.
If there is a link that is out of date and offers to sell anniversary boxes, we can ask the user group program manager to remove the link or we can try to clarify what its intent is. I am sorry if it is misleading and will try to clear up any confusing areas.
Warm regards,
Saundra Foderick
