I'm sitting smack on your lap, Pat, and having that same view.
In my opinion that guy should be removed as president. And reported to
that anti piracy authority and to Microsoft. And if he is an ACN, to
the lead on that as well, for removal.
Entering initials pretty much seals the proof it wasn't legal. A
screen shot of the About box will show whether those initials just
happen to be the president's.
It really irks me when people take a MUG position for the title or
power. Or get it and abuse it.

I think is one reason Apple keeps User groups safely away from their
core. Any association with this presidents action could cause serious
liability. Unless the disk and license is transferred, it's most
likely considered piracy. While it may be ethical to help a person
who is down on their luck, this would generally not be considered
legal. Both your client and the president may be considered liable.
One of the free office suites or even google docs would have been a
good choice.
It also sounds like the president undercut your business as well if he
is a competitor. That's very unethical.

I had a call from a new client today. He had received some help and

$20.00. He
installed it for my client and used some initials in registering the
software. He did NOT give my client the disk.
From where I sit, this looks to be totally unethical. Comments?
