Legal issues really shouldn't be handled on a listserv. Ethical
issues also may not be a great thing to discuss as opinions strongly
differ. Can we close this thread?
as a relative newcomer to this list and being a MUG admin, I
would appreciate some rather bland guidance as to what IS
on-topic. If conduct of MUGS is not, it would be useful to have
the admin make a statement about how we interpret the list's
official purpose
A place for Apple user group leaders to exchange ideas and discuss topics related to Apple user groups.
It does seem useful to me (I stress as a newbie here) to have it
confirmed the general opinion takes a very clear line on piracy
etc (as I would, certainly). If we do have a
quasi-representational role more widely, I think some moderate
and prudent discussion of list and MUG cultures helpful. (I
don't find knee-jerk reactions and escalating provocation
helpful because no-one does but the question is usually not how
do individuals handle these, but rather how does the list as a
whole handle them?)
I agree with some that this thread is done and dusted but, as I
said, would like some brief clarification of what the list has
historically and administratively decided IS on-topic (technical
issues? our connection -- or not -- with Apple?)
