Oy! I am sooo low tech and last millennium.
We have an old FMP database. Its way cool, but was so time-consuming for new Membership Chairperson's to learn that we switched to AppleWorks. Yes, I know. Last century's technology, but it works. Auto number, mail merge, Picture ID's, it just (well) works.
I can sort out E-mail address for a (whitemail) E-mail blast, but I set up the Palm Beach Macintosh User Group on a Yahoo group just for this. I add the club members real name and E-mail address, then follow it up with a personal letter to the member to let them know to expect stuff from Yahoo. I limit who can send these messages, too.
The CALENDAR feature handles most all of my reminders. They do the work for me.

We also use FMP. Our set up in FMP was done in the 80s and has been
updated slightly when we have someone who is knows more about FMP. I
manage it but do no changing to the set up. It works well for our
group. COMUG (Central Oregon Macintosh Users Group). We currently have
55 members. What we need is a simple way to have a list server. We
have been using dot mac groups. Apple is not longer supporting that
and we can't add or delete members. If anyone has a simple way to send
out e-mails to the group using one e-mail address please let me know.
