I was referring to Gary asking on this list instead of speaking with
his vendor. Any answer on this list would be" third party", because
we are not resellers of RAM and of course nobody here speaks directly
on behalf of Apple. What we say on this list is of little bearing,
what Apple or the manufacturer says is key! One of the risks of
using this list for tech support instead of direct User Group
communications. If incorrect advice is given on this list, because of
distance, it's hard to follow up.
Crucial is a good source since they often supply RAM to Apple. Gary
might have misquoted you, because indeed the slots can hold more than
512, it just may not be directly supported by Apple. So everyone is
equally right and wrong. Gary did the right thing by talking with a
sales advisor ...he just might have gotten a quicker response with
OWC's excellent tech support chat. Usually they respond within 90
seconds to my queries. That response would have been more
authoritative and better to rely upon if trouble occurred later. That
way he'd have everthing in writing
