Hi Jiggy,
The time it takes depends on how many applications are in the pipeline. Sometimes things are quiet and the team can process quickly; when the amount of applications is high it can take quite a while. If your group has just had one meeting, it is unlikely that it will be listed on active in the Locator, since the database is used to refer folk to groups in their area or areas of interest. For that reason, the group has to have a history of successful meetings.
Once a group has a substantial presence it is less likely to disappear. A small group where there are few members or all contacts share a surname and addresses or phone numbers, or has had a few meetings at most, is a group that may disappear when the original team loses interest. A potential user group member (often a new Mac user) may find a group near their home via the locator, try the web site and email, and, finding both bounce, never try another. Thus, we may lose that new user permanantly.
The good news is that groups do not need to be listed with Apple in order to be called Apple User Groups, since each group is an independent entity.
Best wishes
Sandy Foderick
