Since posting my Thanks for the recent 'Leaders' offers, I've received a number of emails off list over these.
And as many ask the same or similar questions, I thought it would be quicker to respond publicly here.
1) Thanks for all the POLITE emails thanking me for highlighting these offers. These were really nice to receive.
2) See my separate post on how to subscribe to the Apple User Group Bulletin (and thus gain access to the passwords). That post also details how to access the archive of previous editions.
3) Yes, I am NOW aware the Microsoft Office 2011 offer HAS expired (based on posts by others, both on the list and privately) - but many of the other offers mentioned may still be available!
4) NO, I did not arrange for these offers - As I stated in my original post, I was thanking THOSE WHO DID!
5) NO, I have no influence over Microsoft's decision not to create any more kits (and I doubt the UGAB do either).
6) NO, I don't know how many kits Microsoft did create, nor which groups got them.
7) NO, I don't know who to contact at Microsoft to try and convince them to make more kits! And complaining to Microsoft is only likely to encourage them to NEVER AGAIN make such an offer to Apple User Groups!!! Particularly if you write to them in the same tone as some people wrote to me!!!
8) To stay informed on such offers in the future, subscribe to the AUGB (it is, after all, usually only ONE email a month!) AND/OR visit the AppleUserGroupResources.com website at least once a week.
9) And, to put this post back on a more positive,YES, ANY User Group Leader can sign up for the AppleUsers-Announce mailing list... Whilst my own site focuses on resources for Australian User Groups, there is material that may be of interest to User Group Leaders globally. http://www.appleusers.org/lists/
10) And again, I'd like to THANK Tom and the UGAB for arranging these offers... and I'd especially like to send my sincere THANKS to the VENDORS (including Microsoft) for making these offers available in the first place!
