Has Apple ever based any of their decisions solely on public opinion? No.
The only counsel that Apple consistently seeks is its own. Anyone who has
been an Mac user or Apple follower for long will know this.
However, they are not totally deaf and they have listened to reasonable
criticism in the past. But postings to forums, mailing lists and blogs
doesn't really do it, because they don't monitor those channels.
If you want to truly see some changes to OSX 10.7 that address you concerns,
your best bet is to send *very*polite*, constructive feedback that is also
reasonable and realistic (meaning you take into consideration that not
everyone uses their Mac in the same way that you do) to Apple directly:
