Combine Mail Message bug / Display Mail Messages display bug?

I have been trouble using the step Combine Mail Message in my scripts. The log always shows something like the following error message.

Get Selected Mail Items is running Get Selected Mail Items has completed Combine Mail Messages is running Data Conversion from ("com.apple.mail.item-object") to ("com.apple.message-object ") started Data Conversion failed Combine Mail Messages was stopped Workflow Execution Failed

I also notice that the Display Mail Messages doesn't seem to work. It opens Mail but then doesn't show me anything new.

Am I doing something wrong or are other people in a similar boat?
