What you need to do is to download actions, which are Automator modules for
the application in question, neither Excel nor Pages ship with them. While
you *can* extend automator actions, that's a bit of programming to do it, so
in general, no, you can't easily make Automator do anything other than what
the Actions allow for. For Excel, and Office in general, you can get a
collection of actions from

It doesn't look like anyone's done any actions for pages. What specifically
did you want?
