Hi. What's the best way to automatically print a bunch of Powerpoint and
Keynote presentations to pdf? I'd like to be able to use a predefined
printer preset (e.g., to print 4 slides per page).
There is a Keynote action for "Print Keynote Presentation" but this doesn't
seem to let me print to pdf or to changing the printer presets. There is a
general "Print Finder Items" action, but again, this doesn't let me save to
pdf or to change the printer presets.
Is this something I can do in Automator (or do I need something like
Applescript) ? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Googmeister
I think that if you want to print to PDF from within an application, you
probably need to set up a CUPS-PDF printer. There is a package available
here:
http://www.codepoetry.net/projects/cups-pdf-for-mosx
If you install the CUPS-PDF printer, then it looks like you can use
Keynote's Print Keynote Presentation action by specifying 4 pages per
sheet and the CUPS-PDF printer. It puts the PDF documents in a fixed
folder location, but you can probably deal with that. I have used the
CUPS-PDF printer to make a workflow that printed a directory full of
OmniGraffle documents to PDF by using the Finder's Print Finder Items
action.
Others with more experience might know of something else you can do.
Best of luck,
Rush
