Automator's recording capabilities can be hit or miss, and you may
need to try a couple of times to get it right. Just take it slow.
For some tips on recording, check out episode 2 of my "Mac Automation
Made Simple" video podcast series.... <http://www.automatedworkflows.com/tips/podcast.html
>.
Also, you can ensure that ensure that the desired application is
brought to the front by inserting the "Launch Application" action
prior to the recorded "Watch Me Do" action.

I've had this issue in the past. The "watch me do" feature really
isn't that good for telling the mouse where to go unless everything
is the same on your desktop as it was when you recorded the
workflow; everything in the exact same spot so that the mouse knows
where to go. With the Dock issue, I've only gotten that to work
when the Dock isn't hiding. I have to right click on the dock and
say "turn hiding off", otherwise Automator won't know how to bring
it up on its own.

This is the first time I have used Automator. I recorded a
workflow (using "watch me") and saved it as an application. The
first step is to go to the Dock and click on an application. This
step will not run -- after a brief time I get the error message
"The action “Watch Me Do” encountered an error." What am I doing
wrong? Won't Automator open an application?
