This might be a start in the right direction, I don't know if it will do all you need to.
When you create your workflow, choose the "Run Applescript" object.
In the code where it says "insert your code here", put the following code:
tell application "iCal" end tell
d Click the button that looks like a green circle with a black arrow in it. This should compile the script as well as show a dialog in iCal prompting if you want to subscribe to the URL.
Of course, you put your own calendar URL in place of the one above.
