I use Radioshift to record a program every Saturday night for me to listen to some other time. Another solution I have used is WireTap Studio that works with iCal to schedule the recording.
The automator way would be more complicated.

I went through the help pages but all this didn't make that much sense to me. It says it can do all sorts of things and I get the general idea but still I don't know how to get started.

Once this is done I want it to open my audiosoftware to record the actual sound (Amadeus Pro that is). So within Amadeus Pro the record button needs to be pressed. At a specific time I want to press the stop button, save the file, exit Amadeus Pro as well as Itunes.

So naming the files would be another issue. Or to avoid this - should I leave Amadeus Pro open all the time and rather create a big long file which I could cut into parts later? Technically this would be possible since the audio format it uses is not limited to 2 gb.
