I'm new to this site and this is the first email I got. I just about 80 hrs of customizing and automating my mac.
My 2 cents to your issue might be to add a folder, directory, app whatever which is located off your mac but on your home network. Open up your system preference, accounts and click on your start up log on items. Click to add a start item and locate to the file on the network. I have a shared drive connected to my airport base station. I indicted a folder in my login start up. When I login it automatically connects to the network and mounts the folder on my desktop. No longer have to go through all the steps to sign on to connect and wait for the mount.

Hope that might help. Not real sure what your trying to do but this has worked for me instead of creating a script or workflow.

what I'm trying to do is connect to my ethernet network with my saved credentials. For some reason this doesn't happen automatically so i have to manually do it myself everytime. An applescript would probably be best, but I don't know how to script it.

K, I’m not sure exactly what you trying to do with Automator, but another alternative to the program is QuicKeys 4.0. You can down a trial version of it. I records mouse clicks much better than Automator. But again, I’m not quite sure what you’re trying to do.

Now, I try to automate the login to my ethernet network; I create a new workflow, click on record but by the time I select the ethernet connection the record little window disappears. I save the workflow (I cannot see automator window anymore) and then restarting automator I can see to where it got, but I still don't get what I want (the complete workflow).
