Bob,

I believe I can help in answering this question if someone from Apple has not yet intercepted it.

The SCO link will, from what I understand, not be directly available to developers. It will instead be implemented as an audio driver and to use it it would be setup just like other audio devices opening or closing a sound channel.

Since a SCO link would require userland calls as entry points into the kernel, I think Apple is trying to not to allow bad things that could happen. These are just my thoughts.

As far as when? I asked back in the fall and heard the word "soon". But when that means, who knows. ;-) I'm sure they are working very hard to make everything just right.
