The Bluegiga BLED112 (and BLE112) module have an API defined over a USB CDC interface or
physical serial interface on the embedded module. It doesn't implement a standard HCI
interface, so I would be surprised it would work unless there was specific support for Bluegiga's
API.
I recently found a cheap USB dongle on Amazon with a Broadcom BCM20702A0 Bluetooth 4.0
device that is claimed to support "Bluetooth Smart". At least Snow Leopard doesn't recognize
it a supported Bluetooth controller, I don't know if the iOS simulator does or not.

I Haven't either and would love to hear the solution as well.
