FWIW, ANCS does actually show up when doing service discovery using CoreBluetooth from OS X and iOS, but you'll need to connect first to the iOS device from which you want to consume ANCS.

Martijn,
Can you please detail your view / experience ?
I have 2 iphone 5S.
- iPhone1 has an application that scan for peripherals but how to discover iPhone2 (no app is installed on it) ?
- Need iPhone1 scan for a dedicated serviceId (ANCS serviceId) on iPhone2 ?
