CBPeripheral UUID is unique?

Hi guys,

is the UUID inside the CBPeripheral data structure unique so that it can be used to uniquely identify a physical device over time?

If so, is it generated by the perpheral according to the services and characteristics that it publishs, or is something built-in by the manufacturer inside the device that never changes?
