MITM protection is only possible with PIN-entry or with OOB data of which OOB is not supported in the CoreBluetooth API.
If you only perform a yes/no pairing you wont be able to access characteristics with encryption required. however, you will be able to resolve the private address that hanges every 10-15 mins and can reconnect to the iPhone later, even if it was wiped to factory defaults in between :-)
