My experience is different. For the times I've filed a bug report which doesn't get marked as a dupe, I only get mail if engineering believes they have just released a version with a fix and want me to test it. I don't believe it's an automated mechanism at all, it's very directed.

In the end, we had to settle for slowing input down to 10 characters/second to not get weird behavior on an iPhone 4. I’m still wondering why they weren’t able to fix it and process a burst of few hundred characters as it worked flawless on older iOS versions before.
