Thanks for reply. this looks to be good marketing strategy and confusing people.
my first thought was after looking at Bluetooth 4.2 support is that, they are supporting much more features than actual 4.0. it would be better if some one from apple replies so that we will  be having clear clarity on it.

Bluetooth 4.2 adds support for more optional features, but by large, they are all optional. AFAIK, all 4.0 device can qualify for 4.2 with no additional features, etc.
Other than that, I'd also be interested if there has been any changes in newer devices/OSs.
