: AFAIK Steve Jobs is addicted to hardware. He likes nice boxes (iMac,
: iBook, NeXTCube, original Mac) and likes to design computer producing
: factories. So I think he was pretty unhappy with NeXT going
: Software-only.

He also axed the Newton, just as it was being hailed as the best handheld computer by all the rags. And he axed all of the printers, forcing me to taint my Mac lair with HP junk. So he likes some hardware, just not all of it.

I find it ironic that my pre-Jobs 7500 w/Geoport was an order of magnitude closer to a 'digital hub' than anything Apple is offering now. Here's hoping that changes.
