Thank you Jessica,

That was just the reference I was looking for. After a small amount of plist fiddling in PB, my html help file is now correctly launching with Help Viewer.

What did foxe me for a while was making sure PB created a _real_ folder in the bundle to match up with the CFBundleHelpBookFolder key and not just place the help files at the bundle root. If you get that one wrong your whole application crashes with a 'signal 10 (SIGBUS)' when you select help - ouch.

Regards,
Gary

Hi Gary,

Check out "Providing User Assistance with Apple Help," the canonical document for all things Help Viewer. You can find it at <http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macosx/Carbon/HumanInterfaceToolbox/
AppleHelp/
applehelp.html>.

There's an O'Reilly Network article that some folks have found useful, too. That's available at <http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/mac/2001/05/25/mac_help.html>.

Finally, there's a little tutorial for providing basic online Help with Apple Help, in the upcoming release of Mac OS X. You'll find it under /Developer/Documentation/Apple Help/Tutorial/.
