Getting Finder's Show Info Comments

Warning, I am new and a novice. But here it goes: I am wondering how, using the Cocoa Java API's, I can get a string from the comments text field that shows up in the Finder's Show Info window. I would like to be able get the comments string from a file, edit it, and then write it back to the file.
