Silly question

Hi everybody.

I'm stuck into this question. I have a selector that should behave like this:

if (condition)
{
make alert panel appear
exit from entire selector
}

While I'm able to run the panel, I can't find in the documentation a away out to leave/quit the selector I'm on...
I'm sure there is a way, but how can I do it ?
Sorry for bothering you with this silly question, but I haven't slept too much in these troubled Christmas times ... :-)
