It was available, and basically nobody used it. When I've done user surveys,
basically nobody wants it. It'd be nice to have, but there are much
higher-priority items that better leverage the resources I have to put into
tools for users. If I were to set up an NNTP system and advertise it heavily
on the lists -- I'd be amazed if it got 100 unique users over a month. NNTP
is, frankly, a niche/geek technology these days, and fading fast. There are
other things I want to do that would affect groups of users orders of
magnitude bigger than that. That's why you won't see NNTP support any time
soon. If my budget was infinite and I had people working for me not already
scheduled 100% for the next six months, maybe. But unfortunately, I can't do
everything for everyone, and I have to figure out which things I can do that
make the most impact for the biggest audience.
