Microsoft already has this feature in Windows 2000 Server (and had it in
Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition). They both use technology licensed
from Citrix.
Citrix used the ICA protocol to remote the desktop. Microsoft has their own
protocol (the name escapes me now). They are both about the same
performance-wise. X-Windows is just too inefficient.
Before the desktop can be remoted, the other issues we have been talking
about on this thread would need to be addressed. A remote desktop is just
icing on the cake.
