Is it a given that if you want to develop Cocoa apps you should forget
Java
and do ObjC?
Build the Java and the Obj-C versions of TextEdit.app. Launch them
both, compare their memory footprint, profile them, etc, then you tell
us.
For whatever political reasons Apple has stayed with Next's ObjC as the
foundation for Foundation/AppKit.
On the contrary! Obj-C remains not for political reasons, but in spite
of them. There is a very strong pro-Java faction at Apple.
They may rue the day. A lot of Java/C++ developers won't want to touch
ObjC
with a 10-foot pole.
Ignorance is tragic, isn't it?
I know I don't and I want to write OSX applications in
Java using Foundation/AppKit, not Swing.
Knock yourself out. Of course, you're much more likely to get help with
Cocoa apps if you're writing in Obj-C, but it's your time to waste.
