So it seems like IB is missing the ability to rearrange the view
hierarchy after the fact... I have a couple of NSBox items and I
want to put an additional control into them.
Just double-click on the box (a solid selection border should
appear around it), and then drag the control you want off of a
palette and into the box.
If you have an existing control that is outside the box that you
want inside of it instead, then trying to drag it will de-select
the box and it won't go inside. So for that case, you need to cut
the control, double-click on the box, then paste the control
inside. This will disconnect any connections to/from the control
when you cut and paste it. C'est la vie.
Ah, but there is a way to do this without breaking connections:
1) drag a new empty NSPanel into the same nib
2) follow the directions above to select the controls you want to
move in the view hierarchy
3) hold down the option key and drag and drop them onto the new
empty NSPanel
4) hold down the option key and drag them from the NSPanel to where
you actually want them to go.
Voila, the connections stay intact.
