You know, I've enjoyed both of your posts.
I find David's ideas on teaching techniques intriguing, as the fall nicely in line with my
own ideas. Some people are natural-born teachers and see things this way. I feel that
most teaching techniques are outdated and frustrating. Object-oriented design in Cocoa
needs to be taught in a different way, especially if the user has no C experience. This
class of users is suddenly very large, since we give the dev tools with every copy of OS
X. David, please keep the ideas flowing. I hope to implement them in my own site soon.
Jeff, your ability as a Cocoa programmer far exceeds your ability as a teacher. I enjoy
the light your posts shed on Cocoa topics ranging from techniques to the gaffes of the
API. I value your presence on this list, and certainly don't consider you an enemy. I
also realize it's your turn to retaliate (at least, at the time I'm reading this). Please
consider letting it rest, instead.
Just remember that we're all here to learn from each other, and that regardless of how
much you know, you have something to learn from everybody. The opportunity to teach
someone is a rare, special gift, and one easily lost.
