I see no reason for this to escalate any further. As often happens with
these discussions, both parties get defensive and things get emotional. I'd
say we've both misunderstood and mischaracterized the others' comments at
times. I do think it is possible to teach Cocoa and basic programming at
the same time; I do not think that it is possible to learn the two at the
same time using the materials currently available. I would welcome a solid
book or other training material from anyone, including either of you, that
rolled the two together, and if _that_ was David's primary point, then
accept my apologies; I misunderstood him to mean that those with no
programming experience should jump into the DTS website as it stands now
and have a go at Cocoa, which I do not think is good advice. I learned Mac
Toolbox programming that way in the late eighties and can attest to how
overwhelming it can be - and that was straight-up procedural programming
and there were a number of solid books already available that were targeted
at absolute novices, such as those by Dave Mark and Cartright Reed.
So, David - an olive branch? The way I interpreted your idea was, to my
mind, inane. The way you've since explained your ideas clearly are not.
