I would like the option, of FTP/SoftwareUpdate/ADC downloads.
The retention or non retention of Software Updates is an issue, esp. so if you
have more than one machine (do you then have to download to every machine???).

Options.

I would much rather be able to d/l a distinct installer/updater by myself,
IOW without being forced to use the Software Updater.

I personally hate automation. It removes me (the user) from the control
equation which is a no-no. It's too Windows-like for me.

So, I would suggest offering both. A separate d/l that is also available
via Software Updater. Since I don't use the software update stuff it would
definitely hurt not to have it as a d/l.

A curious question is would people use Software Updater if the updates were
available through traditional means? I.E. what are the stats on SWU use.

As for the size of the d/l, I don't think it's too much given today's
internet connection speeds. I would like to think that most developers are
on (at least) DSL.

Enjoy!

Given that the full Developer Tools .dmg is around 100-120MB in
size, would developers still find it useful to have such a large
download available via Software Update? Also, are developer updates
something that developers would find they want to access via
Software Update (since currently you can't store the updater
separately for later use)?

Note: I can't promise anything, but I am curious to know if
developers in general would want such an option and why (compared
to making it available via the ADC).
