Speaking just for myself (still a modem user), I end up downloading all
updates at my day job (via T1). So, I always grabbed the downloadables
from the Software Update pages and/or ADC members area and bring them home
on CD or Zip.
Another area where having the downloadable files surely helps is when one
needs to do a complete re-install of the system. It was nice to just
stick in the original CD, apply the three updates, the dev tools, and dev
tools update without having to be on the internet.
I also like it where all developer-related stuff is in ADC (seeds or
non-seeds alike). Makes for a convinient one-stop shop.
