Can we stop with these types of comments please?
I agree; dismissive comments rarely help the argument, true or not.
However, I'd be very wary about employing someone who isn't enthusiastic
about learning a new language; willingness to learn and curiosity are a
hallmark of good professionals in any area.
The _syntax_ of Obj-C may be learned in a short amount of time, but
surely
not all the new concepts (e.g. categories).
It think this is less of an issue than you'd expect; compared to the
time it takes to wrap your mind around the frameworks, things like
posing, swizzling, forwarding and categories are quite simple. It will
take some time before these become part of you problem solving
"toolbox", though, possibly with the exception of categories.
Categories and forwarding are important; they can really simplify your
designs, but swizzling and posing are rarely used in my experience.
Learning a language and being proficient in that language are two
different things.
Absolutely. Proficiency takes practice.
There is one issue that I think it is important to consider though:
When you need expert help with a problem, you're far more likely to find
an experienced Cocoa developer who knows Objective-C.
