Please stop arguing and answer this question for me.

When I choose "Get Info" on a file, and select the Application pane in the
info window, I am presented with the following options:

(o) Use Specific Application: BBEdit 6.1
( ) Use Generic Application: OmniWeb 4.0

I would assume clicking the Generic box would set the creator code to
0x00000000 and clicking the Specific one would set it to 'R*ch', but this
does not happen. When booted into 9 the file has creator code 'MSIE' !
What is going on.

In my opinion my own expectations are the best solution (although I expect
many will disagree)

My solution to unwanted creator codes:
cat file.html > file2.html
rm file.html
mv file2.html file.html
chmod 644 file.html
